When should I see an eye doctor?

See an eye doctor for an eye exam if you have a sudden change in vision, eye injuries, eyelids that are stuck together and swollen eyes. The doctor also diagnoses and treats eye diseases. 

I’m already wearing contacts, do I have to go in for my first application?

The first application is an initial examination of the health of your eyes. So if you are changing application centres, we will book you in for your first application. 

How much do contact lenses cost?

The application of contact lenses ranges from 800‑1300 CZK. Complete price list of eye examinations.

Is 3D vision measurement and medical eye screening part of every eye exam?

Yes. In our opticians, 3D vision measurement and medical eye screening are part of every eye examination (if the client’s eye condition allows it). 

What does a medical eye screening reveal and who performs it?

During the screening we measure the parameters of the anterior segment of the eye and the intraocular pressure. Based on the values obtained, we can predict cataracts, glaucoma and keratoconus. Eye screening is part of the vision examination and is performed by an optometrist. 

How often should I have an eye examination?

If you have no vision problems, we recommend that you have a preventive eye examination once every two years. If you wear glasses and contact lenses, come see us once a year. 

How much does an eye exam in an eye studio cost?

The eye exam in the eye studio is free of charge when ordered with multifocal glasses. For other orders, the price of the eye examination ranges from 300 – 750 CZK. Complete price list of eye examinations.

How long does it take to get a vision test?

The eye examination takes about 45 minutes. If you will also be choosing glasses and lenses afterwards, please allow at least 90 minutes of your time.

Glasses and lenses

Can dioptric sunglasses be made?

Dioptric sunglasses can be made and are a very desirable item. Sunglass lens patterns will be shown to you at the opticians, as well as the options of glasses that can serve as dioptric sunglasses. We can also make dioptric sunglasses for children.

What are the risks of poor lens centration?

Poor centration can induce asthenopic problems. Most often it is a headache, general or eye fatigue, in worse cases double vision. 

Will you replace the lenses in my own glasses?

If the technical condition of the frames allows, we will replace the glasses for your own glasses. It is necessary to know the dioptres, or we will make an appointment for an eye examination.

What is the warranty on the glasses?

The standard warranty period is 2 years and covers manufacturing defects. The warranty period is extended for some goods. 

How long does it take to make glasses?

The production time for glasses is usually 7 days. In the case of stock lenses it can be 5 days, for production lenses the time can be extended to 14 days. You will receive exact information when you place your order. 

Can I buy lenses in the e‑shop?

Contact lenses are a medical device designed to correct vision. As long as you have had your first application with a specialist and have regular eye examinations, there is nothing to prevent you from buying contact lenses online. You can also shop on Ales Žejdel’s e‑shop.

Children

How much do children’s glasses cost?

The design of the children’s glasses, the manufacturing technology and the material used are identical to the adult glasses, as is the quality of the lenses. For children’s glasses, use the insurance company’s allowance or discount when presenting the Family Passport card. You can buy complete children’s glasses from 2000 CZK. 

Which eye studio has the largest selection of children’s glasses?

The largest selection of children’s frames can be found in Dětská optica Aleš Žejdl at Nádražní 10 and Křenová 71 in Brno and Hodonín.

Do you offer lenses for progressive myopia?

Progressive myopia is a topic that we are intensively involved in and we offer lenses from several manufacturers — Hoya, Essilor, Rodenstock. 

Can I book my child in for a sight test?

Only an ophthalmologist is allowed to perform eye examinations on children under 15 years of age in the Czech Republic. In the eye studio we measure the eyesight of children from 15 years of age. 

Do you apply contact lenses to children?

Contact lenses are applied to children from 15 years of age, and also to younger children after agreement with the doctor and parents. The condition is the presence of a legal representative at the application and the consent of the doctor.

Do you accept cards and employee benefits?

You can pay in cash in Czech currency or by credit cards. We also accept benefit cards, cheques and gift vouchers from the eye studio. 

Does the insurance company contribute to the glasses?

Yes, only children up to and including 17 years old can apply. For adults, reimbursement of spectacle frames and regular spectacle lenses for the correction of eye defects of less than 10 diopters is currently abolished from the public health contribution.

Where can I buy a gift voucher to Aleš Žejdl Eye Studio?

The gift voucher will delight anyone who wants to take proper care of their eyesight. You can buy it in paper form in all our branches, order the electronic form online in our e‑shop.

Is the eye examination covered by health insurance?

Our opticians are registered in the National Register of Health Service Providers. We are a private facility and our eye examinations are not covered by health insurance. Complete price list of eye examinations.

Will you invoice me for the purchase of the glasses?

We will be happy to issue an invoice for your purchase. Please inform us before you pay for your order. Full billing details including the registration number are required. 

Do opticians meet medical standards?

Our opticians are registered in the National Register of Health Service Providers and meet strict medical standards that stipulate the staffing and equipment of a medical facility. Our opticians and optometrists will take care of you, not salespeople.
