Tips from experienced optician Petra Vychodilova"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, we have technologies and modifications that definitively solve even the biggest ailments that have accompanied the wearing of glasses for centuries. How to choose dioptric glasses that are not only practical, comfortable and decent, but also make you feel great? I've compiled my advice, tips and experience that I've gathered over many years of practice. I also interviewed my colleague Luk\u00e1\u0161 Fojt\u00edk.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why take the choice of glasses honestly?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let's look at the health and practical side of things first, because after all, that is still the most important. For example, improperly chosen glasses can cause: <strong>headaches<\/strong>, <strong>eye<\/strong> <strong>pain<\/strong> or even <strong>vision impairment<\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>Did you know that dioptric glasses can affect not only the quality of your vision but also <strong>your posture<\/strong>? For example, if multifocal glasses are not properly centered, the image is not completely sharp. The glasses wearer then often unconsciously compensates for this by tilting their head unnaturally, which can result in whiplash.  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also keep in mind that dioptric glasses consist of a <strong>spectacle frame<\/strong> and the<strong> actual lenses <\/strong>(or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aleszejdl.cz\/en\/optics-for-adults\/spectacle-lenses\/\">spectacle lenses<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Choice of spectacle frames<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you don't take care in choosing the frames (or if you don't discuss the choice with a professional), you are at risk of your glasses <strong>pushing<\/strong> you, <strong>sliding down<\/strong>, or being <strong>too small<\/strong> or <strong>too big<\/strong> for your face. All of this ensures one thing: <strong>discomfort when wearing them<\/strong>, which, after all, is not very desirable with glasses that you wear on your nose every day.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The types of eyeglass frames are differently durable<\/strong>:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The least susceptible to damage are the <strong>whole-houses<\/strong>.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More delicate are <strong>semi-rimmed shoes<\/strong> (they have a rim only at the top edge and a silon at the bottom).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Glasses <strong>without frames (drilled)<\/strong> require the most care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Tip<\/strong>: Drilled glasses are not suitable for frequent taking off and putting on, so they are usually <strong>not recommended<\/strong> if you are choosing reading glasses.  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Don't refuse the opportunity to try different types of frames in person<\/strong> and, on the contrary, take advantage of this opportunity in the optics. You will see for yourself that some of them fit you like a glove. Different types of lenses have specific properties that will improve the visual acuity, comfort and aesthetic appearance of the glasses. For example, if you are a <strong>high diopter<\/strong> wearer, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aleszejdl.cz\/en\/optics-for-adults\/prescription-glasses\/multifocal-glasses\/\" title=\"\">multifocal<\/a><\/strong> or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aleszejdl.cz\/en\/optics-for-adults\/sunglasses\/self-tinting-glasses\/\" title=\"\">self-tinting lenses<\/a><\/strong> our experts will outline what is realistic and what you can expect from these types of lenses right away when choosing your glasses.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Tip<\/strong>: If you are considering multifocal spectacles, it is necessary to think about the <strong>depth of the eyepiece<\/strong> when choosing a frame, so that all dioptric zones (distance, middle distance, near) can fit into the frame.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to know when it's time for new glasses?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The most common reason why people come in for new glasses is because <strong>their eyesight has deteriorated.<\/strong> It can happen, and it's quite common, that even though you could see like a champ a few years ago, you suddenly feel that your vision has deteriorated.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n        <div class=\"component component-post-cite my-12 xl:my-24\">\n          <div class=\"container\">\n            \t\n\t\t<div class=\"mb-12\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"text-xl md:text-3xl xl:text-4xl xl:leading-snug mb-8\">\n\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt can start with not seeing well in the dark. Or squinting at a&nbsp;clock hanging at the other end of the room. You might also have to stretch the text to the length of your arm when you read a&nbsp;magazine. Do you recognize yourself in any of these cases?     <\/span><b>Then it\u2019s time to see an optometrist<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Anyone who has worn glasses at least once in their life has surely encountered scratched lenses or warped frames. All eyeglasses will wear out one day and stop serving the purpose for which they were purchased.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Tip<\/strong>: Maybe your glasses just need a little adjustment. You have the opportunity to try on dozens of glasses, choose the type that fits you, and with the advice of experts when choosing, you will save a lot of time. The glasses must fit you (size, colour and style) and you must like them. We will recommend the type of lenses for you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aleszejdl.cz\/en\/eye-examination-and-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">based on the results of an eye examination<\/a>, which we will carry out by appointment.     <\/p>\n        <div class=\"component component-post-button my-12 xl:my-16 text-center\">\n            \t        <a href=\"https:\/\/rezervace.aleszejdl.cz\/form.php?id_form=1\" class=\"btn btn-primary xl:px-14 !text-white !no-underline\" target=\"_blank\">\n            \t\tMake an appointment for an eye examination\n      <\/a>\n\n      <\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The most common mistakes when choosing glasses and how to avoid them?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Inappropriate shape or size of frames<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Glasses that <strong>don't match the anatomical features of your head<\/strong> are unlikely to fit you well. You need to think about <strong>the shape of the eyecup<\/strong>, its <strong>size<\/strong>, but also the <strong>width of the beam <\/strong>and the<strong> length of the sides<\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Inappropriate choice of material<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Plastic frames <\/strong>tend to be lighter, <strong>metal frames <\/strong>more durable,<strong> rimless glasses<\/strong> need more care. For lenses, the material affects the <strong>resulting thickness of the glasses<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Omission of surface treatments<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a variety of reasons, some people still choose uncoated glasses. In doing so: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>antireflex<\/strong> improves the aesthetics of the glasses and vision,  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>UV filter <\/strong>protects eyes from harmful radiation  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blue light filter<\/strong> increases comfort when working on the computer,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and the <strong>hydrophobic treatment <\/strong>makes cleaning easier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A<strong> professional optician or optometrist<\/strong> will warn you of any mistakes when you try on your glasses. New materials make it possible to thin the lenses, but the higher the thinning requirements (higher refractive index of the lens), the higher the cost and today's technical advances also have their limits.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For higher minus diopters (higher myopia) <strong>it is therefore wise to choose from smaller frame shapes<\/strong>, where the thick edge of the lens is removed when the lens is ground into the frame.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For <strong>higher plus diopters<\/strong> <strong>it is again good to choose smaller and rounder shapes<\/strong>. Plus lenses are thickest in the centre of the lens, to achieve thinner lenses, it is best to have a semi-finished <strong>lens<\/strong> made <strong>\"to measure\" for the specific shape of the lens<\/strong> (we optimise the diameter of the lens).   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This procedure is most effective for plus diopters, but for higher diopters it can be combined with <strong>high-index (thinned) lenses<\/strong> for better results.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to choose glasses according to face shape?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The basic rule for choosing glasses according to the shape of the face is to choose the opposite shape<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For a<strong> round face<\/strong>, square glasses are more appropriate,  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>round glasses on a <strong>square face<\/strong>,  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>for a<strong> heart-shaped face<\/strong>, choose less conspicuous or rimless glasses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and the <strong>oval shape<\/strong> suits almost all types of glasses.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Determining face shape can be difficult, we are all individuals and not everyone can be found in predefined examples. But don't lose your head, <strong>we can find a<\/strong> <strong>decent<\/strong> <strong>pair of glasses<\/strong> for every face, even if it's not perfectly symmetrical!   <\/p>\n        <div class=\"component component-post-cite my-12 xl:my-24\">\n          <div class=\"container\">\n            \t\n\t\t<div class=\"mb-12\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"text-xl md:text-3xl xl:text-4xl xl:leading-snug mb-8\">\n\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAn experienced optician will then try on the first frame he or she gives you before reaching for it, <\/span><b>\u2026takes note of the width of the head\u2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>the shape of the nose<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>the alignment of the cheekbones.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><b> the shape of the eyebrows<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>the length of the eyelashes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  etc. All these factors affect how the glasses fit you. While the frames can be adjusted, these are more minor adjustments such as the width of the seats or the length of the sides. They are <strong>lighter <\/strong>and <strong>safer<\/strong>, also<strong> suitable for children<\/strong>. In addition to surface finishes, they can also be ordered in different colours and with different functions<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aleszejdl.cz\/en\/optics-for-adults\/sunglasses\/self-tinting-glasses\/\">(self-colouring<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aleszejdl.cz\/en\/optics-for-adults\/sunglasses\/polarised-glasses\/\">polarising<\/a>).    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A special category of spectacle lenses are <strong>individual lenses<\/strong>, whose optical surfaces offer different dioptres in different parts of the lens according to the needs of the wearer. More here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aleszejdl.cz\/biometricke-bryle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Biometric glasses\">Biometric glasses<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Glass lenses<\/strong> are to be considered for very high defects where the resulting thickness may be less due to the high index. However, their fragility is a disadvantage. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lens surface treatments for maximum comfort<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Surface treatments on lenses have several functions.<strong> They improve the appearance<\/strong>, <strong>functionality of <\/strong>the glasses, <strong>vision <\/strong>and, if handled properly <strong>, extend the life of the<\/strong> glasses.
